IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO ON DAY 1

ONCE YOU’VE ARRIVED, YOU WILL HAVE TO ACT QUICKLY TO GET YOURSELF LAUNCHED INTO YOUR STUDIES, STUDENT LIFE AND DUTCH CULTURE. HERE ARE 9 EASY STEPS WE RECOMMEND YOU TAKE ON – OR BEFORE – DAY 1.

DOWNLOAD THE CAMPUS APP

If you have not done this yet, download our Campus App right away for navigation, schedules and more (see also page 6).

COLLECT YOUR BOOKS

During the Kick-In, the UT’s introduction period – which starts on August 25 – we will help you with buying your study books. Being there will make settling in a lot easier and more fun! If you are not able to join the Kick-In, please contact the study association of your study programme upon your arrival. They will help you to get your books.

COLLECT YOUR SCHEDULE

Also during the Kick-In, staff and students will explain our educational support systems to you and show you how and where to find your schedule – so you’ll be off to a flying start on the first day of the academic year.

BUY A SECOND-HAND BIKE AND TOUR THE CAMPUS AND THE CITY

Having a bike here is a huge help in getting around. Studentfiets (‘fiets’ is Dutch for bike) sells reliable, second-hand bicycles at prices from € 45. Contact them during the Kick-In or visit the Studentfiets website. Or rent a Swapfiets bicycle for a fixed price a month. Check Swapfiets.nl.

BE AWARE OF EMERGENCY INFORMATION

The International Student Handbook also tells you what to do in an emergency situation in the Netherlands. Make sure you take note.
