EXPLORING THE UNIVERSITY
ARRIVAL DAY
STUDYING ABROAD IS EASY – THAT IS, ONCE YOU’VE SAFELY ARRIVED, SETTLED INTO YOUR ROOM OR APARTMENT, MET SOME PEOPLE, EXPLORED THE CAMPUS AND THE CITY, AND GENERALLY FOUND YOUR BEARINGS. BUT BETWEEN LEAVING HOME AND REACHING THAT STATE OF CONTROL, YOU HAVE A LOT OF HURDLES TO TAKE. HERE’S SOME HELP.
DOWNLOAD THE CAMPUS APP
Before arriving, we advise you to download our Campus App. It is a great tool for exploring the campus, finding information on buildings, opening hours, services and other points of interest. It also contains your student time table.
CHECK THE TRAVEL GUIDE ON HOW TO GET HERE
Trying to figure out how to get from Amsterdam to Enschede? How to buy a Dutch train ticket? How to get from Enschede train station to the UT campus? Erasmus Student Network Twente (ESN Twente) and the UT Kick-In Committee explain it all in detail – with pictures – in the ESN Twente Travel Guide.
READ UP ON AIRPORT PICK-UP SERVICE
Our website offers good information for new arrivals, too, including travel instructions and details on airport pick-up services. Check these Student Services pages.
BOOKS, SCHEDULE, INTRODUCTION: JOIN OUR KICK-IN EVENT
Before or after checking in at the university, you will want to find your living quarters, meet flat mates and fellow students, and get settled in. The best way to do that is by joining the Kick-In, our introduction period. It starts on 25 August, 2019. During the Kick-In, our teams will be on hand to help you get your study books and schedule, and to arrange all kinds of formalities. Be there!
REGISTER ONLINE WITH OUR CAMPUS DOCTOR
As soon as you can, make sure you register with our campus doctor. Your insurance requires you to do this if you come to live in the Netherlands. Don’t forget!
YOUR OWN MOBILE PHONE
Will you be able to use your mobile phone in the Netherlands? Find out before you get here, for example on Expatica.com.

WHEN YOU NEED A HELPING HAND
Sometimes you need a little bit of help. A nudge to help you successfully complete your studies. If you have personal circumstances or are experiencing personal problems that are affecting your studies or your wellbeing, feel free talk to our advisors and counsellors.
LEARN DUTCH
While you’re here, you might want to pick up some new skills – like learning Dutch! That’s what the UT Language Centre is here for, offering workshops and courses that cover a range of topics, from language tuition to presentation skills and academic writing.
